Did you read my messages re: a Halloween party? I was wondering if you wanted to friend-date it up to the shindig. I have it on good authority - i.e., mine - that there will be dancing. Line-dancing, also.

Yes, I saw them! It sounds like a lot of fun! I've never been to a Halloween party before, though, so I wasn't sure how I could help. I wouldn't want to mess anything up!

[Logic dictates that it's probably hard to mess up in helping set up a party, but decades of teenage media tropes say otherwise.]

But I would love to friend-date it up! What do we have to do to friend-date? Other than line-dancing.

I'm pretty sure we just hang out the whole evening? Like, there should be lots of games and stuff to do, too. And also candy.

We can also think up costumes together, if you had any in mind?

That sounds pretty easy! We should definitely friend-date, then.

[She takes a moment to think over the costume question. That is the most important part of Halloween, after all!]

I have always thought about what I would want to be for Halloween, if I ever got to celebrate it. But it's so hard to choose - there are so many good costumes! I could be a witch or a werewolf or a princess or a super hero or a magical girl or a Squiddle....

[She trails off, but it's clear that list continues for quite a while.]

What about you? Did you have any ideas?

Uh. Pokemon trainer? Idk. If you went witch I guess we could technically grab Rose and just to classes, but like, if you superhero it up I'll be a sidekick.

[ A SHRUG. he clearly has not given it that much thought. ]

Classes could be fun, but it's Halloween - isn't the idea to dress up as something you aren't? So unless we switched classes, that wouldn't be very fun!

[So that strikes out witch from her list - though Jade could probably rock a suit of armor now that she's thinking about it.]

A superhero sounds fun, though! Which superheroes have cool sidekicks?

We could do a swap up. You know Rose would love to be a witch and I'd rock the fortune teller stuff. Probably? What does a seer even wear.

But, uh, superheroes. I guess Batman?

Flowy... mysterious stuff? I think they carry around crystal balls?

[Jade shrugs. That's not really her area of expertise.]

And I guess Batman could work. Though his clothes are all black and kind of boring... Maybe we could modify it to be more pretty?

Y'know, we could always just design our own superhero duds if need be?

That's true! That seems like an awesome idea!

[Jade already has a lot of superhero ideas floating around her head, from scientific armored suits to magical girls, so she poses the question to Dave:]

Nooo, Dave, you can't be something you already are! That defeats the whole point of Halloween!

[Since Dave is not providing helpful suggestions, Jade starts brainstorming out loud.]

What about... a princess super hero! Who has really cool magic, and wears one of those cute outfits like in the animes. And she has all kind of cool magic and abilities, and maybe also robot armor? Do we have time to make robot armor?

I can make us the time to make whatever you want. And Dirk'd probably help with robo armor?

[ he sort of laughs at her nixing his plan though. ]

Can I be a robot butler?

[It's good to know that Dave can give them the time they need to make awesome costumes - it means Jade can let her imagination go wild.]

Yes, a super hero princess could definitely use a robot butler! Is the robot butler also a super hero?

Hm. [ good question. does he want to be a super hero? ] I think he goes to her fights and stuff, but mostly to cheerlead. And to provide ill beats and snacks. The super hero princess def gets to do the heavy lifting.

If he is a cheerleader, does he have pom poms too? I bet a robot butler would look really cute with pom poms!

He absolutely has pop poms. They're red. ...They can be red, right?
